At just 15 years old, Jamal had already faced more challenges than most adults. Growing up in an underserved community, he lacked access to positive role models and struggled with low self-confidence. He often felt unheard and doubted his ability to achieve success. His grades were slipping, and he was at risk of dropping out of school.
Everything changed when Jamal joined our Youth Leadership & Engagement program. Through structured mentorship, leadership development training, and community involvement, he gained the confidence he never knew he had.
Jamal was paired with a mentor who understood his struggles and guided him toward a growth mindset. His mentor encouraged him to step outside his comfort zone, participate in leadership workshops, and take on community projects that allowed him to give back.
One of his biggest turning points was speaking at a youth leadership summit, where he shared his story with hundreds of peers. The experience ignited a passion for public speaking and advocacy. Over time, Jamal’s academic performance improved, and he became actively involved in school leadership programs.
“I never thought I had a voice that mattered. But through mentorship and leadership training, I learned that I can make a difference—not just in my life, but in the lives of others,” Jamal says.
Today, he’s preparing for college with aspirations of becoming a youth mentor and community leader, ensuring that other young individuals receive the same support that changed his life.
